That’s right! I made homemade pasta!
It started out with me wanting a cup of coffee several months ago. I went to my favorite coffee shop which is All Things Coffee House in Kingsville Ohio. The owner, Christina and I were talking about cooking and we ended up talking about homemade pasta. She was kind enough to share her recipe with me. I’m happy to share it with you!
Notice I said “several months ago”.. It took me a while to work up the nerve to try to make it. It is so much easier than I thought!
Ingredients:
6 eggs
3 cups all purpose flour
Directions:
Pour flour onto the counter in a pile.
Make a ditch (well) in the middle of your flour.
Add your eggs to the ditch (well)
Slowly work in the flour with a fork.
Once the flour is worked in start to kneed your dough with your hands.
Kneed it for 10 minutes or until it is soft and easy to kneed. It will be hard to kneed at first.
Form dough into a ball and wrap in cling wrap for 30 minutes. You can also place the dough in a bowl and cover with a towel if you do not have cling wrap.
After 30 minutes, cut the dough ball in two. Recover one half and set a side.
Sprinkle flour on your work surface to prevent the dough from sticking
Roll out the second half like you would pizza dough. Turn and flip it often.
Roll it until you are able to start to see the shadow of your hand when you place your hand under the dough.
I don’t have a pasta cutter so this is how I cut it.
Sprinkle more flour over the dough
Roll up as you would a cinnamon roll
Start at one end of the rolled up dough and cut small strips. You can cut it as wide or thin as you want.
Unroll the strips and walla, you have ready to cook pasta!
Toss in a pot of boiling water for about 5 minutes.
Strain and plate. At your favorite sauce or topping! Enjoy! 🙂
